The ASUS ROG Strix X299-E Gaming LGA 2066 ATX Motherboard comes equipped with an LGA 2066 socket and Intel X299 chipset, so you can build a Windows 10 system running on an Intel Core X-series processor. The motherboard comes with eight DDR4 DIMM slots as well as three PCIe 3.0 x16 and two PCIe 3.0 x4 slots. The memory and PCIe slots work under different modes based upon the number of cores and PCIe lanes offered from your Intel Core X-series processor. For 2.5″/3.5″ storage drives and optical drives, eight SATA connectors are available. You can also install PCIe- or SATA-based M.2 SSDs to the motherboard’s two M.2 slots. Moreover, VROC support enables you to RAID the PCIe SSDs.

Accessing the Internet can be accomplished via the motherboard’s Gigabit Ethernet port or 802.11ac Wi-Fi module. Bluetooth 4.2 is also on board for wireless connections to speakers and headsets. For audio connections, sound is delivered through six audio jacks, which are powered by an audio S1220A processor. Other notable connections include four USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports along with two USB 3.1 ports with 10 Gb/s speeds. One of the two USB 3.1 ports features a USB Type-C design for easy connections with USB-C cables.

The Strix X299-E Gaming motherboard comes built with onboard LEDs that are easily controlled using ASUS Aura Sync technology. An included RGB extension cable and RGB headers on the motherboard allow you to add optional RGB LED strips within your case. Aside from lighting, ASUS lets you easily overclock your unlocked processor by providing easy-to-use software and supporting liquid-cooling solutions.

Intel Core X-Series Processors for LGA 2066 Socket
The LGA 2066 socket supports Intel Core X-series processors that sport four, six, and higher core counts. Four core X-Series CPUs support dual-channel memory configurations and offer up to sixteen PCIe 3.0 lanes. With six-core and above, the motherboard can handle quad-channel memory builds, while the processor delivers up to 44 PCIe 3.0 lanes.
Intel X299 Chipset
The Intel X299 chipset supports LGA 2066-socket Intel Core X-series processors. It provides stability and performance by utilizing serial point-to-point links, allowing increased bandwidth. Additionally, X299 provides a maximum of 10 USB 3.0 ports and 8 SATA 6 Gbps ports along with 32 Gbps M.2 support for faster data retrieval.
Aura Sync
ASUS Aura offers full RGB lighting control with a variety of presets for the built-in RGB LEDs as well as optional RGB strips connected to the onboard RGB headers. The presets offered are Static, Breathing, Strobing, Color Cycle, Music Effect, CPU Temp, Rainbow, Comet, and Flash & Dash. ASUS Aura Sync supports standard 5050 RGB LED strips with a maximum power rating of 3A (12V).
Aura Addressable Header
Strix X299-E Gaming motherboard includes a dedicated addressable RGB header that connects to compatible lighting strips, fans, coolers, and compatible PC cases. The Aura software contains an array of effects for addressable gear, and the Aura SDK allows developers to control each LED individually. Strix X299-E Gaming motherboard includes a convenient 80cm extension cable, making it easy to fit an addressable RGB strip wherever you want.
5-Way Optimization
5-Way Optimization sorts all the complex settings with a click, for instant controllable performance boosts. This technology optimizes essential aspects of your system based on real-time use, so you can experience improved CPU performance, energy savings, stable digital power, cool and quiet fans, and tailored networking and audio settings for active apps.
Audio
ROG Strix’s SupremeFX audio technology includes an S1220A codec to provide a flat frequency response and offer a neutral, detailed sound signature. The addition of two op-amps on the front panel headphone output ensures adequate voltage and current to drive headphones. With Sonic Studio software, you have full control over every aspect of audio, including noise reduction algorithms for communications and EQ adjustments to get the most from your headset or speakers. It also comes with shielding to protect the audio’s signal.
